Current Building Regulations dictate that fire protection or fire resistance is applied to many types of buildings and internal structures. In particular, steelwork is often required to be encased within a fire rated cocoon. We offer several types of systems, each of which is specific in their application. Plasterboard is traditionally used to encase steel members, but where appropriate, mineral based products, composite materials, or a sprayed solution can be applied.

Partitions and suspended ceilings in certain circumstances have to offer fire resistance or provide fire protection within a building structure. In addition, personnel have to be protected against the risk of fire and smoke spreading through a building and need to have one or more protected means of escape to the outside if a fire arose inside a building. A building used for retail purposes would have different requirements to one used as office accommodation, which would be different again if used as warehousing. We can guide you through this minefield and offer the most cost effective solution, based upon your individual requirements.

Many materials used for giving fire resistance can also be used to reduce the sound attenuation within an area. When combined with partition and suspended ceiling installations, specialist sound reduction materials can be incorporated into the structures at the design stage.

Most commonly used to retain sound within an area, we can use materials to provide installations that keep sound out, soak up sound waves similar to a sponge absorbing water, or just reduce the ambient level of sound - particularly useful in an open-planned office environment.
